Spravato

Spravato® (esketamine) is an FDA-approved nasal spray used to treat treatment-resistant depression. Unlike traditional oral antidepressants that may take weeks to show results, Spravato often provides relief within hours, offering a faster path to healing for those who haven't responded to other treatments.

Sublingual Ketamine

Ketamine is a breakthrough treatment for depression and anxiety disorders, offering rapid relief for many individuals. Its effectiveness is often enhanced when integrated with psychotherapy, creating a comprehensive approach to healing and long-term wellness.

  • What is Treatment-Resistant Depression (TRD)?

TRD is a form of major depression that doesn’t improve after trying at least two different antidepressant medications.

  • How is Ketamine different from traditional antidepressants?

Ketamine targets glutamate, a key neurotransmitter for brain cell communication, rather than serotonin or norepinephrine. This allows it to work faster and promote the formation of new neural pathways, often providing rapid relief.

  • What does the Ketamine treatment schedule look like?

Most patients begin with two sessions per week for the first month, followed by weekly sessions in the second month, and then personalized maintenance treatments as needed.

Please arrange for a driver following each appointment.

For your safety, do not drive or operate heavy machinery after treatment. We recommend resting and getting a full night’s sleep before resuming these activities.

Treatment and Medication

Benzodiazepines (e.g., Xanax, Ativan, Clonazepam):
If possible, hold your dose the day of treatment. If this is not feasible, avoid taking it for at least 6 hours before and 2 hours after your session.

Lamotrigine (Lamictal):
Skip your dose on the day of treatment unless doing so will cause decompensation. If taken at night, hold the dose the night before treatment day.

Stimulants (e.g., Adderall, Vyvanse, Ritalin, Concerta, Modafinil):
Do not take stimulants on the day of treatment unless medically necessary.

Nasal Sprays:
Any other nasal sprays should be taken at least 1 hour before your Spravato treatment.

If you are prescribed blood pressure medication, please take it as directed.
Elevated blood pressure at the time of your appointment may prevent us from safely administering treatment.

Bring items that support your comfort and relaxation.
We encourage you to wear comfortable clothing and bring any personal comfort items, such as a blanket or eye mask. You’re also welcome to prepare a calming music playlist to enhance your treatment experience.

Food & Fluids

Stop eating 2 hours before your appointment. Limit fluids 30 minutes prior to treatment.

Caffeine and Alcohol

Avoid alcohol for at least 48 hours before and after your treatment.

Limit caffeine intake prior to treatment

Be mindful of your mental and emotional state before treatment.
Setting an intention, meditating, or journaling may be helpful for some clients in preparing for their session. We also recommend minimizing external stimulation during and surrounding your treatment to support a calm, focused experience.
